The family of the three 'angel' children who were tragically killed in a horrific house fire have broken their silence.

Bayley Atkins, eight, and her mother Kara, 31, narrowly escaped the ferocious fire that tore through their family home in Singleton in the New South Wales Hunter Valley about 3.30 on Wednesday morning.

The pair remain in a stable condition at John Hunter Hospital.

Their family have been left heartbroken after five-year-old twins Matylda and Scarlett and 11-year-old Blake were killed.

Relative Britt Rinkin shared on Facebook the anguish the family has been feeling since the tragedy.

'To be in that moment when we were told we lost our daughters, son, grandchildren, nieces, nephew and cousins, and to re-hear it on the news repeatedly, to see it on social media is gut-wrenching for our family because we are grieving horrendously,' she posted.

She thanked those who had donated to the GoFundMe page that has been set up to support the family.

'We are very thankful for all the love and support everyone has given our family,' she said.

'Our little angels are resting in peace.'

Investigators have revealed the family dog, a golden labrador named Oscar, was also killed in the blaze. His remains were found under the house.

Hunter Valley Police District Command Superintendent Chad Gillies told the Daily Telegraph the dog was taken to a vet to be disposed of.

According to NSW Fire and Rescue, the heater will play a role in helping investigators piece together what caused the deadly inferno - which is believed to have started in the front of the house and moved to the back.

Neighbours were the first on the scene when the fire broke out in the early hours on Wednesday morning.

One woman said she had woken to screams and came out to see the home was on fire.

'There were so many children inside,' she told Nine News. 'It is just a shocking thing to happen to anybody.'
