A baby girl who was bashed by a vile thug suffered injuries far worse than slain 22-month-old Mason Lee – yet her attacker could walk free from jail in just a week.

Jesse Lee James was sentenced to six years behind bars last week for bashing the two-year-old girl.

The toddler had her back and pelvis broken and suffered a ruptured pelvis at the hands of her 29-year-old attacker.

Her former foster carer told The Fraser Coast Chronicle the horrific injuries were similar to being hit by a speeding car.

'The doctors told police her injuries were worse than Mason Lee.'

Mason Lee died a slow and painful death after his mother's boyfriend William Andrew O'Sullivan punched him in the stomach at his home in Caboolture, Queensland, in June 2016.

He spent his final hours with blue lips, wrapped in a towel and making grunting noises.

His killer was handed a nine-year prison sentence in September last year after pleading
