Craig Dewar pictured arriving at Newport Crown Court today, where he was spared jail
A jealous husband who kidnapped his wife's lover before threatening to cut his throat has today been ordered to complete a 'thinking skills' course.
Craig Dewar carjacked John Hawkins after finding out he had been having an affair with his wife Zoe, 32.
In a 'moment of madness', Dewar waited for Mr Hawkins to finish work then forced his way into his van and threatened to 'cut his throat open' with a pair of pliers.
But the 34-year-old from Abertillery, Wales, has been spared jail and instead ordered to pay his victim £500 and complete a course which will 'help him stay out of trouble.'
A court heard Zoe, 32, worked with Mr Hawkins at a council social services office and told her husband about their trysts.
Prosecutor Andrew Kendall said: 'Dewar handed Mr Hawkins the keys and told him: 'Follow the car in front or I'll cut your throat open.
Dewar admitted 'confronting' his love rival but denied kidnapping Mr Hawkins or using any violence against him.
He told the jury that Mr Hawkins had taunted him about his wife, telling him: 'It's a real man she wants, not you.'
