Joe Namath is dragged into daughter Jessica's bitter divorce battle

NFL legend Joe Namath has been dragged into his daughter's bitter divorce battle as his son-in-law demands he turn over his financial records.

Jessica Namath, 33, has filed for divorce from Brian Kennedy, and is seeking child support for the couple's two-year-old son.

Court documents obtained exclusively by DailyMail.com reveal Kennedy, 34, has thrown her 76-year-old Hall-of-Famer father into the fray, seeking discovery of his of financial documents, including credit card statements, bank accounts and income tax returns.

In explaining his request, Kennedy's attorney wrote the discovery would be fair game since 'the wife is supported by her wealthy father, Joe Namath.'

Kennedy hopes the football retiree's financial history would 'provide evidence of extensive gifting to the wife by her father.'

Jessica's legal team have in turn, called the request 'a blatant overreach,' 'an attempt to intimidate and harass the wife and her family' and 'a backdoor attempt to get personal and/or corporate financial bank statements from Joseph William Namath.'

The divorce also involves a fight over the couple's two-and-a-half-year-old son, whom Jessica is accused of alienating from his father.

The mom-of-one has also claimed her estranged husband has been battling alcoholism and a drug addiction as well as anger management issues.

Kennedy has denied the claims in court, as well as in a statement to DailyMail.com saying: 'I deny all allegations made against me.'

Joe Namath did not return calls for comment, and Jessica said she had no comment to make.

Kennedy and Jessica tied the knot in July 2015.

Weeks later, New York City media reported Namath had bought the newlyweds a condo on the Upper West Side of Manhattan as a present.

In fact, according to records, the $1.01million West 70th Street duplex is owned jointly by the football player, his daughter and son-in-law.

The three are named also on a Wells Fargo mortgage, New York City records show.

According to Jessica's divorce petition, the couple sought advice about Kennedy's troubles from a marriage counselor, but things didn't get much better.
