Beau Ryan has stepped in to defend Erin Molan after she was was targeted by over reports she is locked in a bitter feud with NRL great Andrew Johns - adding that social media attacks have left her 'broken'. 

Keyboard warriors took aim at Molan after reports suggested an 'awkward' falling out between the herself and Johns was the reason the rugby league immortal has been absent from Chanel Nine's Friday night football commentary team. 

Ryan has worked with both Molan and Johns, before he recently signed to host a new series of The Amazing Race at 10.  

The 34-year-old said it was 'bullsh**' to blame Molan for a call made by Nine's head of sport Tom Malone and the channel's management. 

'I've been really close to Erin since she started and have so much respect for her. You've got to remember she was one of the first women to come in and work in NRL,' Ryan told News Corp.
