An embarrassed dog owner was forced to call the fire brigade at 2am after her naughty greyhound got her leg stuck behind the radiator.

Mother-of-two Marie Garrett, 47, woke up to the sound of three-year-old rescue dog Connie crying in the early hours of November 1.

Somehow the mischievous pup, who sleeps on her back with her legs in the air, had slipped her slim paw between the radiator valve and the wall in Ms Garrett's bedroom and was unable to free herself.

When this didn't work, the pair were forced to call the RSPCA and the fire brigade, who arrived in ten minutes.

Ms Garrett comforted Connie, who she has had for six months, while three firefighters unscrewed the valve so the pooch could pull her leg free.

Ms Garrett is now warning other greyhound owners about the dangers of letting their pets sleep next to radiators because the dogs have such slim limbs which are able to slip inside small spaces.

Ms Garrett, from Stockport, Greater Manchester, said: 'I woke up in the middle of the night from a deep sleep and Connie was screaming hysterically.
