A pet owner is begging for a family to return her beloved cat Jannie after the missing ginger was handed in and adopted.

Bilan Ozman's cat went missing from outside her home in Marangaroo in northern Perth in October.

The four-year-old ginger cat wasn't wearing a collar when he disappeared, and despite Ms Ozman's tireless search, had been missing for more than five weeks.

'I got him during a hard time in my life and he’s helped me get through so much,' Ms Ozman told The West.

'He’s not just a pet but a family member. It’s been so hard not knowing where he was or what had happened to him.'
