A pet owner has told of the horrifying moment she fought off an enormous eagle which swooped down and attacked her little dog.

Terrified Marika Smith, 36, said she was twice forced to kick the swooping bird of prey in the chest as it dive-bombed to snatch her dog, named 'Tiny', in Shoeburyness, Essex. 

The expectant mother - is who five months pregnant - managed to fight off the bird - with the help of a passerby it was fended off after it tried to pounce on her pooch a second time.

Tiny, a Jack Russel-Pug cross, was left bloodied and shaken with cuts to his eye and had to be treated by local vets following the incident on Monday morning.

Ms Smith says she was out for a walk close to a nearby primary school when she looked up and saw an 'enormous bird'
