A woman found dead in the boot of a car in a Brisbane backyard was heavily pregnant and just weeks away from giving birth. 

Police were called to a home on McGill Street in Raceview at 5.20pm on Tuesday where they found 31-year-old Kardell Lomas's body.

Ms Lomas's de facto partner, Traven Fisher, 36, was arrested late last night from the same address and is assisting police with their inquiries.

Mr Fisher's older brother said his brother and Ms Lomas were preparing for the birth of their baby. 

'I'm shocked... he (Traven) showed me a photo and said it was 21 days till he was born. He was not violent, he was argumentative, yes,' Alfred Sullivan told the Courier Mail.
