Legendary Star Trek actor William Shatner, now 88, has announced that he is planning on travelling to space in real life. 

He has pitched an idea for a TV show in America which would see him aboard one of the commercial rockets which are expected to launch as early as this year. 

The famed actor became loved worldwide 54 years ago when he hit screens as Captain James T Kirk on the inter-galactic USS Enterprise with the mission 'to boldly go'.
