A driver is being questioned on suspicion of drug-driving after an eight-year-old boy was killed in a motorway crash and a boy of six was seriously injured.

The two children were rushed to hospital on Friday after the silver BMW they were in hit a stationary highways maintenance vehicle on the hard shoulder of the M60, near junction 23 for Audenshaw, shortly after 2pm.

Greater Manchester Police said the eight-year-old boy was pronounced dead a short time later.
