A former university lecturer who claims to have slipped on some breadcrumbs on the vinyl floor of an Emirates flight is suing the airline for $12,000.

Desley Bartlett was on a 14.5-hour flight from Brisbane to London last year when she slipped on the vinyl floor on her way to the business class bathrooms.

She was assisted by a flight attendant who she said told her that a similar incident involving breadcrumbs occurred about a month before.
