A man robbed a Key West bank and then escaped on foot, police said

A man robbed a Centennial Bank in Old Town on Tuesday, Key West police said.

The robbery took place at 4 p.m. at the bank’s 701 Whitehead St. location, the police department posted on its Facebook page.

The suspect had no getaway car, police said.

“He left on foot and was last seen headed toward Angela Street,” according to the post. “He is described as an Hispanic male, around 50, with a medium build and some facial hair.”

The suspect was wearing a red baseball cap with a black bill, gray tennis shoes and a maroon-colored windbreaker, which he was seen removing to reveal a light-colored T-shirt, police said.

Police did not say whether the robber was armed nor did it release any more details Tuesday evening but said there were no injuries.

They did ask for the public’s help.

“If you see this man, please call 305-809-1000 immediately,” police posted.
