Australian shoppers have been spotted at the shops wearing bizarre outfits to protect themselves against COVID-19. 

Some wore Hazmat suits and face masks while others chose homemade silver space suits or placed plastic bottles over their heads. 

The images were posted to Facebook with the caption: 'Can never be too careful.'

One person was pictured in a supermarket car park wearing a silver space suit costume and helmet.
