Drinkers easing boredom during lockdown with their favourite beverages were given reason to celebrate after a Northumberland brewery announced they would give away hundreds of gallons of beer.

The Alnwick Brewery Company had pleaded with residents to use their own containers and take home its unsold cask beer.

The lucky locals were requested to make a donation to help the NHS's fight against coronavirus in return.

The firm was left with plenty of untouched casks when pubs nationwide closed their doors due to the ongoing pandemic.
