A grandfather who was brutally attacked outside his home has died two weeks after the horrific assault. 

Emiliano Lombardi, 84, was attacked with pieces of broken mirror outside his home in East Cannington, south Perth, on August 16.

Mr Lombardi was rushed to Royal Perth Hospital the next morning and remained in intensive care until his death on Monday night.

Mr Lombardi had gone outside around 7pm to investigate a disturbance when he was brutally slashed with shards from his car mirror.
