The family of a man who was found dead in a ditch after a battle with terminal cancer has revealed harrowing details of his last weeks. 

The body of Michael Hartley, 43, was found at the bottom of an embankment near Gympie in Queensland on Monday morning. 

Mr Hartley was suffering from terminal liver cancer and had been released from jail just two weeks ago, according to his sister Sandy.
