A suspect has been arrested in the killing of The Kids Are All Right actor Eddie Hassell, who died following a shooting in Texas on Sunday.
D'Jon Antone, 18, was arrested without incident Wednesday by the United States Marshal Service North Texas Fugitive Task Force and Grand Prairie Police on a charge of capital murder, according to a news release from the Grand Prairie Police Department. He is currently being held in the Grand Prairie Detention Center, with bail set at $500,000.
Grand Prairie detectives said the offense was a random robbery by the suspect, who is not a resident of the city. This case will be referred to the Tarrant County District Attorney's Office.
An attorney for Antone could not be immediately identified to speak on his behalf.
On Sunday, officers located Hassell, 30, after responding to a report of a shooting in the 3000 block of West Bardin Road in Grand Prairie just before 2 a.m. Upon arrival, officers found Hassell suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.
Officers provided first aid to Hassell and he was transported to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The motive was initially under investigation, but detectives confirmed a car was taken from the scene and later recovered.sonos sonos One (Gen 2) - Voice Controlled Smart Speaker with Amazon Alexa Built-in - Black read more
Hassell's manager told EW that he was shot outside the apartment of his girlfriend, who was inside at the time and did not spot the assailant. Hassell was shot in the stomach.
Hassell most notably starred as Clay in the 2010 film The Kids Are All Right, opposite Julianne Moore and Mark Ruffalo. He also played Phil Nance in NBC's short-lived series Surface, which featured Leighton Meester and Lake Bell.
Hassell made appearances in other shows including Devious Maids, Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip, Bones, and Longmire. He also had a small role in the Ashton Kutcher-led film Jobs in 2013.
