This is the dramatic moment a group of villagers rescue a helpless cat being strangled to death by a huge snake in Thailand.

Locals joined forces to fight off the eight-foot boa constrictor as it crushed its prey in the middle of a busy road in Tak on Saturday.

The stray cat was hunting pigeons on an archway above the road when the deadly snake pounced and pulled it into the street below.

As it squeezed the life out of its prey, onlookers wielding weapons rushed in and attacked the snake - causing it to flee.
