An NRL star has been ruthlessly mocked over a spelling error on his Instagram after announcing his engagement to his partner, who is pregnant with their third child.

Canberra Raiders star Jack Wighton shared the happy news in a post on Monday, alongside pictures from the beachside proposal at Batemans Bay.

The 27-year-old, who won the Dally M Medal in 2020, welcomed partner Monisha Lew Fatt as his soon-to-be wife, with the hashtags 'forever and always' and 'she said yes'.

But eagle-eyed Instagram users noticed Wighton had misspelled 'fiancee' - instead using the word 'finance' to mark the pair's commitment to each other.
