A developmentally disabled man has been brutally murdered in a New York City apartment building. 

The body of Eric McBride, 30, was discovered Saturday afternoon in the stairwell of a building at the Lincoln Houses complex in Harlem.

McBride was stabbed 19 times and his throat was slashed, according to The New York Daily News. 

The grisly murder has stunned McBride's family, who say he may have been targeted because of his trusting nature. 

McBride, who lived with his mother in a different building of the Lincoln Houses, a city-owned public housing project, is being remembered as a Good Samaritan who 'ran errands for people in the neighborhood'.
