A teenager has died from his injuries after being stabbed multiple times in a Birmingham shop.

Bystanders reportedly rushed the 17-year-old to hospital but the car he was travelling in crashed en route.

The boy was found with stab wounds next to a crashed Ford Focus in Heath Street, Smethwick at around 4.20pm on Saturday, West Midlands Police said.

He was taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital but pronounced dead around an hour later. 

An 18-year-old has been arrested on suspicion of murder over the knife attack, which police said occurred just five to 10 minutes before the boy was found.
