Rugby league identity Lou Zivanovic's troubled past before to fifth wife

Rugby league identity Lou Zivanovic splashed $1million on an extravagant three-day celebration at the Whitsundays to his new wife five years after 18 of his construction companies went bankrupt.

The former Penrith Panthers player, 61, hosted 100 guests at the InterContinental Hayman Island Resort as he said 'I do' to his glamorous long-time partner, Olivia Milazzo last week.

The ceremony welcomed a number of famous faces including retired professional boxer Jeff Fenech, Panthers legend Greg Alexander, Penrith's last premiership captain Craig Gower and former South Sydney football manager Shane Richardson.

The 100 guests were put up at the $1,500-a-night luxury hotel for free and Anthony Callea sang at the reception, according to Fairfax columnist Danny Weidler.

The lavish celebrations mark a serious change in fortune after the former NRL star found himself owing creditors $26.8million in 2016.

Zivanovic was banned from managing a corporation for three years following the collapse of the 18 building and construction companies under his operation.

He was disqualified from managing corporations up until just two years ago - in February 2019.

Zivanovic told the Sydney Morning Herald in 2018 that the problems came from the financial crisis.

'The last four years, everything has been rock solid,' he said.

The Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) said creditors were not paid debts that totalled $26.8million.

But Zivanovic alleged that $24.5million of the total was owed to him because of inter-company loans while the rest was indebted to the Australian Tax Office.

Zivanovic's last week marked the fifth time he found himself standing at the aisle, according to his estranged wife Michelle.

The pair made headlines in 2014 after their bitter split played out on social media.
