A young father accused of killing his 21-day-old son has claimed the little boy died after he tripped over his dog and crashed into his bassinet.
Ashley John McGreger, from Christies Beach in Adelaide's south, was arrested on Friday and charged with manslaughter and neglect after his son was found with a bleeding brain and fractured ribs.
The 31-year-old claimed in Christies Beach Magistrates Court on Monday that the infant fell out of his cradle onto the ground on April 21.
He claimed he tripped over the dog and knocked the bassinet, causing it to flip over.
