Australian dog owners are urged to be on high alert for a deadly tick-borne disease ehrlichiosis, which has reached the state of Victoria for the first time.
A positive case was found in a dog that had travelled from the Northern Territory where the disease is widespread, to Horsham Victoria.
Ehrlichiosis is caused by a tick-borne bacteria and if left untreated may prove fatal to dogs, the disease had not been detected in Australia prior to May 2020.
