Jennifer Taylor, 24; Sheba Taylor, 26; and Paul Sherrod, 28, are each facing charges of aggravated battery, resisting or obstructing a police officer causing injury and aggravated assault of a peace officer, according to The Aurora Police Department. The attack unfolded on Monday during a traffic stop after the unidentified police officer watched the group's car ignore a stop sign near West Aurora High School at about 10.30pm. Paul Sherrod, 28, (left) and Sheba Taylor, 26, (right) were arrested along with another woman on Monday night they allegedly attacked a police officer during a traffic stop Jennifer Taylor, 24, (pictured) was also arrested and charged for Monday night's alleged attack Sherrod was driving the vehicle and pulled into a driveway before he began shouting at the officer, police said. One of the female passengers then got out of the car and approached the officer, who ordered her to get back inside multiple times before informing her that she was under arrest for obstructing police. Public Information Officer Paris Lewbel stated that moments later Sherrod also exited the vehicle, continued yelling obscenities, and started approaching the officer at the rear of the car. He told the officer that he would fight him if he touched the rear female passenger. The officer then informed Sherrod that he, too, was under arrest, before Sherrod started running away. The officer pursued Sherrod on food with both women running behind him. At some point, the woman whom the officer had threatened to arrest caught up to him and he tried to grab her arm to restrain her. The woman yanked her arm away before she and the fellow female passenger began beating the officer with their fists on his body and head. Soon after Sherrod joined in on the attack, police said. The passenger who was initially ordered to go back to the car then placed her forearm around the officer's neck and applied significant force to his throat, causing him to lose the ability to breathe. Additional officers then arrived at the scene and helped to arrest all three suspects. The officer was then transported to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries. 'Our Aurora police officers are entrusted with keeping our community safe from harm. I am at a loss of words when an officer is physically attacked from something that would have been a simple traffic ticket,' said Chief Kristen Ziman. 'We will not allow our city to become a place where criminals feel emboldened, and lawlessness ensues,' she said. Mayor of Aurora also stepped in to condemn what happened to the officer. 'This type of lawlessness and violence against our police officers cannot and will not be tolerated,' said Mayor Richard C. Irvin. He added that 'This was an act of malice and cowardice and I will absolutely seek that the perpetrators are prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Let's keep this officer in our prayers as the officer makes a full and complete recovery.' Both Taylors are in custody with their bond set at $50,000. Jennifer Taylor is scheduled for a court date on July 14, while Sheba Taylor's hearing is on July 7. Sherrod is being held on a $75,000 bail with his hearing scheduled on July 6.
