A senior policeman has sparked outrage after an irate customer filmed him buying bread without a face mask in locked-down Brisbane. The officer bought a packet of crumpets at Mango Hill Bakery, in the Morton Bay Region of the city's north, about 11am on Wednesday - the day after face coverings were made mandatory in southeast Queensland. Footage showed the bare-faced cop paying for his food while an angry customer berated him for not following the rules he was supposed to be enforcing. 'No mask in lockdown. One law for police and one law for society,' the video was captioned in a post to TikTok. Failing to comply with the public health order carries a fine of $200, but the officer did not seem concerned as mask-wearing bakery staffers watched in shock. Everybody else has a mask,' the man said from behind the camera. The policeman put his head down and went to leave the store, before he stopped closely in front of the patron and said: 'Can I talk?' Frustrated, the man refused to let the senior sergeant reply and asked him to stand '1.5m away, pal' - in accordance with social distancing protocols. The officer nodded and headed back to his police car, as the customer called after him: 'Come on mate, follow the instructions we've all been given.' 'If I didn't have a mask you'd say something to me, wouldn't you? You would, pal.' 'The Queensland Police Service's posture has always been to educate and show compassion with the change of Covid-19 Chief Health Officer's directions.' Mango Hill Bakery also confirmed the incident to Daily Mail Australia, but did not comment further. Some social media users rushed to the defence of the officer, claiming he may simply have forgotten. Sunshine State residents can apply for an exemption from the face mask mandate if they have a valid medical condition or disability. Another viewer wrote: 'No one is perfect. Everyone is tired of wearing masks. he's very patient and just walked away quietly.' But others shared the customer's rage and said police officers should be held to a higher standard. 'He wouldn't say something to you, he'd book you,' one wrote. Queensland recorded two new cases overnight on Thursday, bringing the state's total number of infections up to 44.
