A 60-year-old man has died after he was stabbed in a 'random and unprovoked assault' on Oxford Circus yesterday.
A murder investigation has been launched and a 25-year-old man is in police custody following the attack.
The victim was rushed to a central London hospital after sustaining knife injuries at the junction of Regent Street at 8pm.
Metropolitan Police arrested a 25-year-old man at the scene after he was detained by members of the public who were nearby during the daylight stabbing.
Footage posted to social media shows a large cordon in place on Oxford Street.
The suspect was taken to hospital for treatment to a head injury, which is not believed to be life threatening.

The man's next of kin has been informed and is being supported by specially trained officers, and a post-mortem examination will be scheduled soon.
A
