A 15-year-old schoolboy stabbed to death in Woolwich 'wanted to be a lawyer', according to the mother of one of his friends.

Named locally as Tamim Ian, the Harris Academy Greenwich pupil was attacked in Woolwich New Road shortly before 5.25pm on Monday. He was apparently caught up in a fight among a group of teenagers, according to a nearby resident.

As they waited for emergency services to arrive, members of the public stepped in to try and help Tamim as he lay bloodied and dying, including one person who attempted CPR.

While some witnesses got their cameras out to film the tragedy, others held up sheets to give some privacy to Tamim once paramedics had arrived to try and save his life.
