This is the shocking moment a man appears to punch a police officer in the face as he is arrested on a London tube after allegedly becoming aggressive when he was confronted over failing to wear a face mask. The incident took place on the District Line on 6 July near Acton Town Underground Station at around 7.35pm in front of shocked onlookers. Video footage recorded by a witness and shared online shows the 26-year-old man, who is dressed head-to-toe in black and wearing white trainers, sitting on an empty row of seats on the busy carriage. The clothed officer is trying to place handcuffs on him but the man, who has not been named by police, keeps resisting before appearing to punch the officer in the face. The officer was attempting to arrest the man for breaching Covid regulations by not wearing a face mask on public transport. He had refused to provide his details meaning a fixed penalty notice could not be issued, a spokesperson for the Met Police told MailOnline.
