Thousands more Sydneysiders now qualify for a $500 lockdown payment after the requirements were relaxed.
Sydney residents who lose more than 20 hours of work a week can claim a one-off $500 disaster payment from the federal government, and those who lose less than 20 hours can claim $325.
Previously only those with less than $10,000 in their bank accounts could apply for the payment, but this requirement has been removed for lockdowns that go on for more than three weeks.
Meanwhile, some 300,000 extra doses of Covid vaccine will be diverted to Sydney to help fight the growing outbreak in city.
