The incident took place this afternoon near the St Stephen's entrance after the man reportedly tried to sneak into Parliament. The Met have confirmed a police officer was punched during an incident outside Westminster and that a suspect had been arrested. A spokesman said: 'We are aware of commentary on social media about an incident outside Parliament. 'Shortly after 3.30pm, a man was arrested for assault after an officer was punched. Police detained a man following a confrontation outside the Palace of Westminster just before 4pm A Met spokesman said: 'Shortly after 3.30pm, a man was arrested for assault after an officer was punched A witness said the road where the incident took place was still closed despite the matter being resolved 'The officer was not seriously injured and the incident is not being treated as terrorism.'
