The former CEO of Australia Post and boss of NAB has sold his luxury mansion for more than $40million, three years after first putting it on the market.

Ahmed Fahour's sprawling property in Hawthorn, in Melbourne's inner city, features four buildings including a five-bedroom main house, a separate guest house that sleeps three, a two-bedroom cottage and a six-car garage.

The 1.023 hectare property also boasts a gym, pool, a spa that can fit up to 30 people and a tennis court.
