A television presenter has shared the difficulties she encountered trying to get the AstraZeneca coronavirus jab, describing it as one of the worst experiences of her life.

The Project panelist Jan Fran said she made phone calls to two GPs about getting the vaccine but one did not stock it, and the other was on maternity leave, and she did not receive it during a subsequent appointment.

That prompted her to lash out at the federal and state governments and health officials for conflicting messages over vaccine availability, saying it had left her 'rattled, confused and .... f**king angry'.

She said she contacted doctors' surgeries after Prime Minister Scott Morrison gave the green light for under-40s to get the Astra Zeneca from their GPs if they wish to do so, despite earlier government advice that it should be only be taken by over-60s.

'So old mate Morrison says late June 28 that under-40s can seek out the AstraZeneca jab via their GP. The following morning I call my GP,' Fran posted on Twitter.

'Receptionist tells me they don't administer the AZ vaccine at their clinic. I call the GP I was seeing prior to her – they do administer AZ but my particular GP is on maternity leave.'

She also did not receive Astra Zeneca at a subsequent appointment, instead choosing to wait until under-40s get access to the Pfizer vaccine. 

'The experience was one of the worst I've had! The GP seemed miffed that I was even there asking for the jab. You're under 40 - why don't you want to get Pfizer, they kept asking, making me feel stupid AF for wanting to get vaxxed pronto,' Fran wrote.

'I guess I'm gonna get the Pfizer partly so I don't have to think about this anymore and partly because GP-shopping for a jab that medical experts are half-a**** on doesn't fill me with the greatest of confidence.'
