Two-thirds of adults in the UK have now had both Covid vaccines as Britain hits goal five days early By Luke Andrews Health Reporter For Mailonline Published: 14:16 BST, 14 July 2021 | Updated: 14:26 BST, 14 July 2021 Viewcomments Two-thirds of British adults have now received two doses of the Covid vaccine, official figures show. NHS England revealed today it had administered a further 124,905 second doses, bringing the total number of adults double-jabbed to 35.1million. This is equivalent to 66.6 per cent of the adult population in the country, or two thirds. The Department of Health will publish the figures for the country later today, which will include the number of inoculations in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. It comes as No10's top scientists mull over slashing the gap between doses to four weeks amid concern the country has hit 'maximum uptake'. But advisers warned today any reduction in the gap could actually cause infections to rise because it could lead to a much lower immune response. More than 45.9million first doses have been dished out, but the pace has halved over the past two weeks to 78,000 a day.
