The husband of Maya Millete has been named a 'person of interest' in the California mom-of-three's disappearance more than six months on from when she was last seen.

The Chula Vista Police Department released a statement Thursday confirming Larry Millete as a person of interest and said that no further information would be released at this time, due to 'the sensitivity of the case and to protect the integrity of the investigation.'

Maya, 39, vanished on January 7 from the home in Chula Vista that she shares with her husband and their three children aged 4, 10 and 11. She was reported missing three days later.

Speculation quickly started to mount about her husband Larry after it emerged Maya set up a meeting with a divorce attorney on the day she was last seen.

Maya's family have also claimed she confided in them days earlier that 'if anything happened to me, it would be Larry.'

Larry was served with a gun violence restraining order in May after cops discovered an arsenal of illegal weapons during one of the searches of the family home.

The latest development in the case emerged during a court hearing Wednesday relating to the unsealing of records over the restraining order.

San Diego Deputy City Attorney Jeff Brooker first named Larry as a person of interest in his wife's disappearance in the open court in San Diego.

'We agreed that we would not put up a fight for any of the information regarding Mr. Millete, his missing wife, that there is an investigation, that he is a person of interest,' he said.

The hearing came after News8 requested for the gun violence restraining order records to be unsealed.

San Diego County Superior Court Judge Katherine A. Bacal also ordered for the records to be made public with the exception of a photo of the couple's four-year-old son which will be heavily redacted.

The photo shows the boy standing on a kitchen table surrounded by 16 guns, hundreds of rounds of ammunition, four US passports and a government ID.

It was taken in January 2020 and was emailed to a police officer during the missing person case.

The photo led officers to issue Larry with the gun violence restraining order.

'There's nothing to be gained by showing and viewing a child themselves, even the body, even the t-shirt, or the shirt that they're wearing and I agree with you,' said Bacal.

The court also heard there is an ongoing investigation by San Diego County Child Welfare Services into the safety of the Millete children, reported News8.

The records had been sealed temporarily when law enforcement slapped Larry with a temporary gun violence restraining order on May 5.

Officials said that Larry owned a total of 22 weapons, including seven AR-15s and three shotguns, of which only eight were legally registered to him.

When police searched the Millete residence in January in connection with Maya's disappearance, her husband was said to have told officers that he knew they were coming for his guns and gave multiple firearms to friends.

He then refused to name those in possession of his guns.

By the time the restraining order was issued, police had recovered only two semi-automatic weapons belonging to Larry.

In the months since Maya went missing her relatives have spoken out several times about how her marriage to Larry was unraveling and she was preparing to file for divorce.

In April, it emerged that Maya had shared a post in a Facebook group for mothers on the same day she vanished claiming she was seeking advice on a local family law firm on behalf of 'a friend'.
