Car boot sale enthusiasts near a village in Leicestershire got more than they bargained for this morning when a bomb squad robot arrived to detonate a suspicion package in a controlled explosion.
Measham Sunday Car Boot in Bosworth Road was forced to close and put under an 'exclusion zone' by Leicestershire Police at around 9.25am today after a suspicious package was found in the car park.
The car boot sale organisers later said on Facebook that a 'suspect package that resembled a homemade explosive device was spotted in the car park' and the bomb squad 'carried out a controlled explosion'.
'Ultimately it turned out to be a false alarm,' the organisers told their 13,000 followers on Facebook, 'but it's best to be safe than sorry'.
