A Covid-positive man has sparked fury after he illegally fled Sydney's lockdown, travelled to Queensland, infected Qantas flight attendant and roamed the state for seven days before he was caught.

The Sydneysider reportedly ignored stay-at-home orders after he was told that he was a close contact of a positive case on July 10 and should not leave home for 14 days.

He was incorrectly informed that he had tested negative to Covid-19 two days later, but close contacts of positive cases in New South Wales are directed to isolate for two weeks regardless of their test results.
