Coronavirus outbreak at a Sydney nursing home infects nine elderly residents - and not all of them are vaccinated By Tita Smith For Daily Mail Australia Published: 02:33 BST, 1 August 2021 | Updated: 02:35 BST, 1 August 2021 Viewcomments Sydney's Covid outbreak has spread into a nursing home leaving nine elderly residents infected. NSW recorded 239 new cases of community transmission on Sunday as the Harbour City's highly infectious Delta contagion continues to climb. In a worrying development, Deputy chief health officer Dr Jeremy McNulty announced several cases had been identified across aged care facilities, impacting Australia's most vulnerable age groups. 'There are a number of aged care facilities across the city that have been affected, with staff and residents infected,' Dr McNulty told reporters. 'On a regular basis we are seeing cases in hospital settings or aged care settings and we have even had some disability settings as well.' 'There is an outbreak in a Summer Hill aged care facility with I understand nine residents affected. Fortunately, many of those have been vaccinated. As I understand it, the ones with vaccination are doing relatively well.' More to come.
