A fly-in fly-out worker has tested positive to Covid-19 in Perth after flying into the city's airport - as hundreds of travellers are ordered to self-isolate.

Western Australia Premier Mark McGowan said the worker tested positive to the virus after returning from the Fortescue Cloudbreak mine site in the state's north-west on July 27.

He is believed to have caught the virus at Perth Airport on July 20 from a traveller who flew to WA after
