The stag do for Jack Wilkins in Basildon, Essex took a turn for the worse when he was left abandoned outside the Westgate Shopping Centre in nothing more than socks, sandals, suspenders and a thong. Cars tooted as they passed and onlookers revelled in tears of laughter as they saw Jack attached to the lamppost by several layers of thick, clear tape. A scantily clad Jack Wilkins was left taped to a lamppost outside Westgate Shopping Centre in Basildon, Essex as morning commuters were left stunned at the aftermath of his stag do In the clip, cars can be seen whizzing past as Jack struggles to free himself from the lamppost. Giggling pedestrians approach him and take pictures, as car horns can be heard tooting him in the background. A dubbed video of Jack singing 'I Want to Break Free' by Queen was shared across social media, and his rising popularity has even seen a petition launched in a bid to get him to switch on the town's Christmas lights. A petition has since been launched to get Jack to turn on the town's Christmas lights display The stag party believes that the now-famous 'socks and sandals boy' should be the 'only clear candidate' to turn on the town's festive display. The petition to Basildon Council read: 'An overnight local sensation who has bought tears of laughter to many within the community and beyond. 'The stay party soon become the talk of the town when a failed nipple piercing attempt ended up with him being carried across the road and taped to the traffic lights outside the Beehive pub in nothing but suspenders, thong, sandals and socks. 'This act bought tears to shoppers, sounds of horns from passing vehicles and of course prides of joy to successful stag group. 'Shares of photos and videos still swamping social media it would only seem right that "Socks and Sandals Boy" would be the only clear candidate to turn on Basildon Christmas lights this year wearing his famous attire one more time.' So far, more than 200 people have signed up to support the petition. One person wrote: 'This man is a legend'. 'He cheered me up,' another said. Meanwhile, another person said: 'Well it's the last thing you'd expect to find when you come into work in the morning.'
