Woman, 20, with target tattoo on her cheek is jailed for life for murder of her ex-boyfriend's mother who was shot dead by her fiancé on New Year's Day Shaylyn Moran pleaded guilty to murder on Thursday and was immediately sentenced to life The 20-year-old convinced her fiancé, Jack Doherty, to kill her ex-boyfriend's mother in 2019  She'd just broken up with the ex-boyfriend, Leonard Troufield, when she met Doherty online On New Year's Day, Doherty went to Troufield's family home and opened fire when his mother answered the door He is still awaiting trial in New York but she will now spend the rest of her life in prison  Prosecutors said that Doherty's weapon looked liked one he'd claimed to have made with a 3D printer

A Rhode Island woman with a target tattoo on her cheek has been jailed for life for the murder of her ex-boyfriend's mother, who was shot dead by her new fiancé on New Year's Day in 2019.

Twenty-year-old Shaylyn Moran was jailed on Thursday for plotting with her fiancé, Jack Doherty, 25, to kill Cheryl Smith, 54, at her home on New Year's Day. Moran and Doherty had just become engaged and he was visiting her. 

She convinced him to kill Smith, the mother of her ex-boyfriend, and he carried out the murder with a gun that police said at the time resembled one Doherty claimed to have made using a 3D printer. 

He'd boasted about the weapon on social media. 

Moran was dating Smith's son, Leonard Troufield,
