When Bruce Saunders died after being shredded by a woodchipper in November 2017, the cause of death was believed to be a horrific industrial accident.

However, four years later, detectives now allege 54-year-old's death was actually the result of foul play at the hands of his ex-girlfriend, Sharon Graham, 60, and two men who were allegedly her lovers on a property outside of Gympie, Queensland.

Rather than a cavalier attitude to the woodchipper, police now allege that Ms Graham and Peter John Koenig, 64, and Gregory Lee Roser, 62, had a romantic and financial motive to end Saunders' life.

Roser was allegedly having an affair with Ms Graham; and Koenig was at the very least 'infatuated' with her, a court has been told, according to The Sunday Mail

Detectives secretly setup audio and video cameras inside the home of Ms Graham, which allegedly captured recordings of her and the two men 'getting their stories straight' about Saunders' death.

The transcripts of the recordings were tendered to the Queensland Supreme Court as part of a bail hearing for Graham and the two men in July.

They allege Koenig and Roser, 62, discussed who was the 'mastermind' behind the plot with Ms Graham, used a 'secret code' asking if they wanted a hand with a trailer to arrange meetings, and voiced their concerns about going to prison.

A life insurance policy on Mr Sanders, of which Ms Graham was the only beneficiary, was allegedly increased from $500,000 to $750,000, and a claim was made three days after the incident, the court was told.

Transcripts from the secret recordings tendered to the Supreme Court for a failed bail application include Roser telling Graham and Koenig: 'I thought you said you weren't going to talk about it over the phone', the court heard.
