Coachella will require all concert-goers and event staff to be vaccinated against COVID-19 as music promoter AEG announced they will mandate the shot for all other concerts.

Concert runner AEG Presents announced the vaccination mandate in a statement on Thursday, telling future Coachella and Stagecoach music festival attendees they will be required to show proof of vaccination in order to attend the live shows.

AEG said their decision was spurred on by rising COVID numbers.

'The decision comes on the heels of the dramatic surge in Covid-19 cases as the Delta variant spreads throughout the United States,' the concert runner said.

The policy is set to be implemented by October 1  and will only allow fully vaccinated ticketholders to attend its concerts and festivals, except in any states where such policies are banned.

AEG said leading up to October 1, concert-goers can still use proof of a negative test within 72 hours of the show date for entry.

Shawn Trell, General Counsel for AEG acknowledged that certain state regulations might override their mandate and some artist may not want to get on board with the plan but they are holding firm on their decision in the interest of public safety.

'We know that using our platform to take a strong position on vaccinations can make an impact,' Trell said.' The message we want to send is simple and clear: the only way to be as safe as possible is to require everyone to be vaccinated. And we’re confident that others who haven’t been ready to make this full commitment yet will follow our lead.'

The tour, produced by AEG Presents, was postponed due to the pandemic and is set to resume North American shows in November 2022, the San Diego Union-Tribune reported.
