Nearly 100 dogs and two cats were rescued from a feces- and filth-filled home - and the owners taken into custody - after neighbors reported a foul smell and incessant barking from the dilapidated Pennsylvania house, officials said.

Rescue workers from an animal shelter stumbled upon a scene from a horror movie, with one dog giving birth, others dead in a corner and the rest malnourished when they arrived at the Uniontown home on August 23, members of Cross Your Paws Rescue said.

'When we were finally allowed into the house, I opened the door and there were three puppies being born right when I was walking in,' said Julie Cole, who works at the Irwin, Pa., shelter.

'One still had the umbilical cord attached. I instantly started tearing up. It was so hard to see.'
