Five ducklings followed their mother through the security gates and an open door into the University of Nottingham's George Green Library. The family enjoyed a 'calm and unflustered' walk around the aisles of books before being safely escorted out of the building by a librarian. A family of ducks waddled into the atrium of the University of Nottingham's George Green Library The fowl were able to duck below barriers preventing unauthorised access to the building A librarian helped the ducks escape from the library and make a break for freedom Video footage shows the ducks waddling around the atrium before being ushered under the security barrier as they eventually made their exit back to their pond. Emma Halford-Busby, from University of Nottingham Libraries, said: 'The library was quiet at the time. 'It had been very hot that week, so we had left our doors open for some extra air movement. 'The ducks wandered in through one of our entrances. 'They walked around our atrium for a while, mum in front and ducklings in a line behind. Mum was totally calm and unflustered. 'As they walked towards our other entrance, one of our staff gently ushered them through the gates and back outside. 'You often come across ducks in seemingly odd places around campus, but that was definitely the oddest place I've seen them. 'It did bring some excitement into an otherwise peaceful evening at George Green Library.' The ducks ignored a no-entry sign before leaving the the library Commenting on social media, one student said: 'That is the cutest thing I've ever seen' The clip was recently shared on social media by the university following the visit of the ducks back in July. Commenting on social media, one student said: 'That is the cutest thing I've ever seen.' One person wrote: 'They can they just 'duck' under the underneath the barriers...'
