Joe Biden is preparing to withdraw his nomination of David Chipman to head the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) this week, a Thursday report reveals.

Chipman has faced a slew of criticism since his nomination earlier this year and has received bipartisan backlash of his gun control advocacy.

The opposition has held up the process for Chipman's confirmation and now, two people familiar with the decision told The Washington Post, Biden is going to withdraw the nomination.
