Andrew Yang has a surprise on the horizon for his devoted support base, the 'Yang Gang,' as the former presidential and New York mayoral candidate is planning to leave the Democratic party and launch his own third party next month.
The party's debut, which was first reported by Politico, will come with the October 5 release of his new book, 'Forward: Notes on the Future of Our Democracy.'
The details of the party or how he plans to introduce it in 2022 or 2024 are not yet clear and Yang and his team have not responded to requests for comment from Politico. However, a summary of his new book, released by Penguin Random House imprint Crown, teases the potential groundwork for the party's platform.
'The machinery of American democracy is failing, Yang argues, and we need bold new ideas to rewire it for twenty-first-century problems,' a promotion for the book reads, adding that Yang's book will dive into ideas like 'data rights, ranked-choice voting, and fact-based governance empowered by modern technology.'
