The U.S., Australia and the U.K. plan to turn up the heat on China with a deal to be unveiled on Wednesday for an Australian nuclear submarine using American and British technology, according to Australian media.

President Biden is expected to announce a new agreement to share defense technology with his two allies as part of an effort to push aback against the rise of China.

He is due to deliver remarks at 5pm on a 'national security initiative,' but the White House offered no further details.

A working group, known by the acronym AUKUS, will allow the three allies to share information in technological areas such as artificial intelligence, cyber, underwater systems and long-range strike capabilities, according to Politico, citing a White House official and congressional staffer.

Both characterized the plan as a move to counter China's rise in the technology and military sectors.

And Australia's ABC News said it understood Australia would use American and British technology to replace its existing Collins class submarines with a type more suitable to the deteriorating strategic environment - ripping up an existing deal with France.
