A Sydney mansion has sold for an incredible $11.5million after a mystery buyer inspected the property via Facetime. 

Recruiter Jason Johnson and his wife, Portia Thomson were hoping to auction off their home in Sydney's ritzy Dover Heights on September 30. 

But it was quickly snapped up by a 40-year-old buyer, who is believed to work in the mining industry in Perth, after a 20-minute video tour.

'The buyer saw it for the first time at 3pm on Facetime and he bought it at 7pm,' Alexander Phillips of PPD told Realestate.com.au.

It is understood the buyer is planning to relocate from Perth to Sydney next year.
